Today, I want to talk about building confidence. Because when you don’t feel confident, life can feel so much harder than it needs to be. Saying YES! to you and your dreams can feel so much harder than it needs to be.

The thing is, becoming confident can feel a little bit like this impossible double-edged sword. Like you need to be confident before you have the confidence to do the things you want to do and show up in the world the way you want. But how can you ever be confident when you’re stuck, hesitating, second-guessing, and wondering if you’re good enough?

The reality is, confidence doesn’t just magically show up one day and suddenly there’s a fearless woman staring back at you in the mirror. Confidence is something you must build. And to be a confident woman who has the confidence to live life on her terms and go about making the life she wants her reality, that kind of confidence follows clarity and courage.

So, let’s talk about why confidence follows clarity and courage, and more importantly, how you can start getting clear, getting courageous, and building the kind of confidence that allows you to say YES! to yourself and your biggest, boldest dreams.

Welcome to The Self-Creation School podcast, for women who are ready to ditch mediocrity, step up and get more of what they want, and finally say YES! to a life that sets their soul on fire. I’m your host Leanne Letica, Self-Creation Coach, founder of The Self-Creation School AND Queen of YES!. If you’re ready to play life by your own personal rule book, and give yourself permission to say YES! to yourself and your wildest dreams, this podcast is the place for you.

Welcome to today’s episode of The Self-Creation School podcast. I’m so happy you’re here with me because this episode is all about confidence, something so many women struggle with, especially when it comes to saying YES! to themselves and the life they want.

If you’ve ever felt stuck hesitating, doubting yourself, or wondering if you’re good enough to take up space and live life on your terms, I want you to know you are not alone. I’ve been in that place, I see you and I feel you.

I also want you to know that confidence is something you can create step by step, YES! by YES!. It’s not something you’re born with, it’s not something you either have or you don’t. It’s something you build one day at a time, over time.

And like I said in the intro, just a moment ago, confidence follows clarity and courage. And in today’s episode, I’m breaking down exactly what that means and how you can start building it for yourself.

Let’s begin with clarity because clarity for me is the foundation of confidence. Clarity is what gives you meaningful direction. It’s what turns the uncertainty and chaos in your head into focused action and helps you know where you’re going, why you’re going there, and who you need to be to get there.

Which is a really crucial point because a lot of us think that clarity, getting clear, is all about knowing what you want, and how to make that happen. And while you do need to be clear on what you want, it is in understanding why you want it, and who you need to be to have it, that the how is revealed—and with it, the confidence to take action.

Listen, a lack of clarity is one of the biggest reasons we hesitate and doubt ourselves. When you’re not clear about what you want, why it matters, or who you need to be to have it, every choice feels uncertain. You don’t trust yourself, you second-guess your decisions, and confidence feels impossible from a place of confusion.

But when you are clear, you eliminate that uncertainty. You know what’s right for you. You know why you are choosing to do one thing over another, and how you need to show up in your world for the things you want to become your reality. And that certainty is what creates confidence.

Let me give you an example.

Let’s say you’re hesitating to set a boundary with someone and say no to attending that regular weekly social event with them because you’re afraid of how they’ll react. Without clarity, you feel unsure if this is the right thing to do. You might question yourself, “Am I just being selfish? Will they think I’m being difficult? Does this even matter? It’s just a few hours in my week.”

But when you’re clear on what you want, like protecting your energy from people who drain you, and why that matters, because it allows you to show up as your best self, you can make that decision with confidence. And when you know who you need to be, someone who values herself enough to honor her needs, you stop second-guessing and you start trusting yourself to say that no. Self-trust not only builds confidence, but it also gives you the courage to go right ahead and set that boundary.

So, the first step in building confidence is to get clear on your what, your why, and your who. What is it you truly want your life experience to be? What are the things you want to do, have, and experience? What relationships do you want to spend your time in? What do you want more of? Less of?

And why is all of this important to you? This is not a judgmental question, by the way, because you get to want what you want simply because you want it. But it’s simply a question of understanding the drive behind wanting what you want. What purpose will it serve in your life in helping you create a life you love? A life you are excited to live every single day. How will having it make you feel and why does that matter?

Then who do you need to be to honor what you want and why it matters? Maybe you need to be a woman who protects her energy, puts herself first, a woman who is willing to be seen and heard. Think about how you need to show up in your world to honor the one precious life you get to create and be fulfilled by in doing, having, and experiencing all the things that uniquely matter to you. What boundaries do you have? What standards do you uphold for yourself? What qualities and traits do you possess?

Now, all of this may take more than a moment to get clear on and that’s okay. Clarity doesn’t always show up all at once on demand. But the more you ask yourself these kind of questions—especially when situations do arise where you feel unsure, or you’re hesitating, doubting, or second-guessing, asking yourself questions like, “What do I want here? Why does that matter? And who do I need to be in this situation to honor that?”—the more you ask yourself these kinds of questions, the clearer things will become, and the more courage you will feel to take confident action towards the life experience you want.

Which brings me to courage.

Courage is the bridge between clarity and confidence. Clarity provides you with the certainty you need to confidently take the first step, but courage is what gets you moving. Because, and let’s keep this real, even when you know exactly what you want, why it matters, and who you need to be, taking that first step can still feel scary, and it does sometimes require you to trust yourself and take a leap of faith, knowing why it is you are doing so.

Courage is the part where you show up for yourself and take action, even if your heart is pounding, even if you don’t feel ready, even if it causes you to feel a lot of discomfort. It’s what helps you step out of hesitation and into momentum.

And I want to get this myth right out of the way. Confidence does not come before courage. Confidence is not something you wait to feel before you have the courage to act. It’s something you build by acting from a place of courage. And your confidence will grow every time you choose to act with courage from a place of clarity.

Every time you say YES! to taking a courageous step, no matter how big or small, you prove to yourself that you can do hard things. You prove to yourself that you are capable, that you are trustworthy, and that you are worthy of the life you’re creating. The more you show up for yourself in this way, the more confident you will feel, not because the fear goes away, but because you’ve built trust in your ability to act in spite of it.

Are you starting to see how this works?

So, let’s talk about how you can start leaning into courage from a place of your newfound clarity today.

First and foremost, I want you to understand that courage doesn’t have to look like a huge leap. It’s simply about taking that next small intentional step in front of you. So start by breaking things down into bite-sized steps that you can just take one step at a time.

Think about one step forward, one action you can take today that aligns with your clarity. Again, it doesn’t have to be big. It could be saying no to a social event that doesn’t feel right for you. It could be setting a small boundary with yourself, perhaps. Or even sending that email you’ve been avoiding or making that phone call. Focus on just one step that feels manageable, even if it does also make you feel a little nervous or scared.

Then remind yourself of your why. Whenever fear creeps in, reconnect with your why. Ask yourself, why does this action matter to me? How will it bring me closer to the life I want? Or take me further away from the life I don’t? Your why is your anchor, and it can help you push through the discomfort of fear every single time.

I also encourage you to see fear differently. Fear isn’t a sign that something’s wrong. It’s a sign that you’re stepping outside your comfort zone, which is where all the growth happens. So instead of seeing fear as a stop sign, see it as a sign that you’re moving in the right direction.

Lastly, take that one step forward and celebrate it. Acknowledge yourself for showing up, for acting in alignment with your clarity, and for honoring what matters to you. Confidence grows through repeatedly taking small steps of courageous action and the more you celebrate your courage, the easier it becomes to choose it.

Courage is what allows you to turn clarity into action and action is what builds confidence. It’s not about being fearless, it’s about choosing to act even when fear is present, because you are clear on what matters and why it’s worth it. And like I said earlier, every time you take a courageous step, you strengthen your self-trust, which is a crucial part in building confidence.

Listen, I really want to bring this point home. Confidence isn’t about never feeling doubt or fear. Confident women don’t have all the answers, and they’re not fearless. They still feel fear. But the difference is, they trust themselves to act anyway because they are clear on why it is they are acting. Either it’s to honor who they need to be, or support what it is they want to create.

And they know that whatever happens, because things don’t always turn out as we’d like them to, they know they can figure it out. Because they’ve proven it to themselves through staying grounded in clarity and taking courageous action time and again.

Confidence follows clarity and courage.

When you show up for yourself, take aligned actions and prove to yourself that you can trust yourself, confidence becomes a natural by-product. The more consistently you show up for yourself in this way, the more your confidence will grow until eventually there comes a tipping point where your confidence will elevate your clarity and your courage. It will help you dream bigger and bolder and take bigger and bolder steps towards those dreams.

So, I want to give you some tips on how to stay connected to clarity and courage so that you can keep growing your confidence every single day.

My first tip is to start your day with clarity. Take just two to three minutes every morning to check in with yourself and ask, what’s my top priority today? Why does it matter to me? How does it honor the me I want to be? This small ritual will help keep you grounded in your clarity and help you approach your day with intention and courage.

Tip number two is to celebrate your wins. I cannot encourage you to celebrate yourself enough. At the end of each day or week, write down one courageous action you took, no matter how big or how small. Maybe it was setting a boundary. Maybe it was saying no or taking a step towards your goals.

Celebrate yourself for showing up. Remember, confidence is built through repetition. So the more you acknowledge your wins, the more likely you’re going to be to repeat those wins, and the more momentum you’ll build.

Tip number three is to anchor yourself to your why. Whenever self-doubt creeps in, reconnect with your clarity, ask yourself, why does this matter to me? What will this action make possible for me? Your why will help you move past fear and stay focused on what truly matters.

And my fourth and final tip is to remind yourself that confidence is a practice. Confidence isn’t about having it all figured out. It’s about trusting yourself to figure it out as you go. Remind yourself that every small, courageous step you take towards the life you want strengthens your self-trust and build your confidence one step at a time, one YES! at a time.

So, here’s what I want for you to take away from all of this. Confidence isn’t something you’re born with and it’s not something you wait for. Confidence is something you create off the back of clarity and courage.

When you get clear on what you want, why it matters, and who you need to be, you create a foundation for action. When you choose courage even in the face of fear and take that action, you build self-trust. And when you consistently take aligned action from a place of clarity and courage, confidence becomes a natural result.

Remember, clarity gives you direction and courage moves you forward. Confidence follows clarity and courage.

This week, I challenge you to do two things. The first is to get clear on one thing you truly want, why it matters, and who you need to be to have it. Then say YES! to taking one courageous action towards it, no matter how big or small.

And I’d love to hear how this goes for you. So, connect with me in my DMs over on my socials, or shoot me an email and tell me about your courageous action. I personally read all of my messages, and I do reply to each and every one of them. I can’t wait to help celebrate your move towards confidence with you.

I *also* learned the HARD WAY that all the money in the world won’t buy a LIFE YOU LOVE.

But I found a SECRET
STASH of riches that will...

And every Wednesday, I share my SECRETS with you.

Join me for powerful conversations, Self-Creation tips and insights, and discover how to SAY YES! to a life you wildly love.
